How to get a mental health care plan
Anyone experiencing stress or mental health difficulties can access a mental health care plan (MHCP).
The first step is to book an appointment with your doctor and ask for a mental health care plan.
With MHCP you can access 6 rebated sessions, with a possible further 4 sessions, with a maximum of 10 each calendar year.
You have the right to choose whom you want to see, so bring the Medicare provider number to your doctor.
If you don't know whom you want to see you can ask your doctor to recommend a clinician in your area.
You are welcome to contact me on 0468 466 445 if you have any questions.

Working together, you can expect....
To be treated with respect, kindness and patience.
Not to have to relive or share anything you do not want to.
Not be pushed or persuaded into something that you’re not ready for.
Be accepted to feel and think differently.
My absolute attention and to feel safe.
If you've lost hope, I will have hope for you until you are ready – "There is always hope".
For me to facilitate your process rather than me give advice or pretend to have the answers for you.
I will walk next to you in your recovery journey.
For you to take absolute responsibility for your own health and wellbeing and the changes you want to see.
I believe you are the expert on yourself and the architect of your own life!
You will experience a person centred approach that is trauma informed, which will be holistic and incorporates body and mind. A combination of therapeutic evidence-based approaches such as CBT, ACT, DBT, motivational interviewing, mindfulness, conscious breathing, narrative, strength based, solution-focused approach, and Tapping - EFT (Emotional Freedom Techniques).
Tapping is a self-applied stress reduction technique using elements of cognitive therapy, with physical stimulation of acupuncture points. It is a somatic body based therapy technique that can be used for depression, anxiety, pain, phobia, stress, processing trauma, PTSD, insomnia, craving, emotional regulation and more.

Experience counts
Have over 10 years of experience in mental health. Worked interstate with Mental Health Fellowship in Victoria/Melbourne.
After moving up to QLD/Sunshine Coast worked with 121 Care and Suncare.
After completing the Bachelor’s of Social Work, I worked as a mental health clinician at QLD Health in Gympie Mental Health and Addiction Services, supporting people with complex mental illnesses and substance use for a few years.
Then I moved on to the Royal Flying Doctor Service and worked in remote communities in their Mental Health and Wellbeing program, providing psychological interventions for people experiencing mental health distress, trauma and more.
About Me
Gun - When I introduce myself, it creates uncertainties, and then a smile. I was born and raised in Sweden, but my heritage is Finnish. Emigrated to Australia in 2008 with my husband and 2 children. I am passionate about trauma-informed care that is person-centered and strength-based. As a Mental Health Clinician and Mental Health Social Worker, I see myself as a temporary facilitator, my goal is to provide a positive experience, provide hope for change, and make a difference for people struggling with their mental health, trauma, addiction, or just life. I have over ten years of experience supporting people with various mental health issues from mild to severe. I see it as a privilege to work when provided with the opportunity to be part of a person's recovery journey. My belief is that we all have inner knowledge of what we need to live a fulfilling life and maximize our potential, but at times we can get lost and need support to get back on track. I believe addiction is a coping strategy to soothe inner pain, hence the importance to ask why the pain is and not why the addiction.
Like so many other people I have also been affected by mental illness and suicide on a personal level, hence, my passion for Mental Health and trauma or as I prefer to call it Mental Fitness.

This is H, he may at time join us for a session if you are seeing me in Sunrise Beach, if that is something you choose. H loves people, will help you feel safe and comfortable and he loves being cuddled!
Walk and Talk on the beach, and/or practice Mindful Walking with or without H offered on request.
