Your Therapy Options

If you are experiencing stress or other mental health difficulties you can access a mental health care plan (MHCP) by visiting your General Practitioner (GP) to discuss your concerns. The GP will create a personalized MHCP for you. This plan includes treatment goals and referrals to mental health professionals of our choice, such as a mental health social worker, psychologist or counsellor. With this plan, you can access up to 10 subsidised therapy or counselling sessions per calendar year, making mental health support more affordable and accessible.

Therapy Approaches Information

TAPPING - EMOTIONAL FREEDOM TECHNIQUE (EFT)

Tapping/EFT is a self-applied stress reduction technique using elements of cognitive therapy, with physical stimulation of acupuncture points. It is a somatic body-based therapy technique that can be used for but is not limited to depression, anxiety, pain, phobia, stress, processing trauma, PTSD, insomnia, craving, emotional regulation.

ACCELERATED RESOLUTION THERAPY (ART)

ART is an evidence-based eye movement therapy developed from EMDR (Eye Movement Desensitization Reprocessing) by Laney Rosenzweig in 2008. Using a standardized protocol that is directive, incorporates elements of bodily sensation processing, gestalt therapy, and the use of metaphors. ART can be used for but not limited to PTSD, depression, anxiety, phobias, obsessive-compulsive disorder, substance abuse, and chronic pain.

ACCEPTANCE & COMMITMENT THERAPY (ACT)

ACT is a therapy which combines mindfulness skills with the practice of self-acceptance. ACT focuses on accepting your thoughts and feelings and facing your problems head-on rather than avoiding your stressors.

DIALECTICAL BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (DBT)

DBT is a modified version of CBT that includes the development of skills in emotional regulation, distress tolerance, mindfulness and interpersonal effectiveness and is often used in the treatment of Borderline Personality Disorder (BPD).

COGNITIVEL BEHAVIOURAL THERAPY (CBT)

CBT is a form of talking therapy which can be used to treat people with a wide range of mental health problems. CBT is based on the idea that how we think (cognition), feel (emotion) and act (behaviour) are connected and by changing the way you think, you can change the way you feel.
